Losing faith in our pillars of stability One year ago, the argument in Canberra was about who could take the credit for the stability of our banking sector, which was generally appraised to have assisted our collective evasion of the GFC's worst depredations. But how swiftly that jubilant spirit has evaporated, now that it occurs to us that the downside of the otherwise excellent "stability" concept is a lack of competitiveness.
