Five reasons this has been a good week This week did not augur well, from the beginning. The prospect of another round of Howard/Costello hostilities had all the appeal of an overheard spat between the neighbours. Several rounds of polling were due in the newspapers; this, too, is never a good circumstance. But the marvellous and surprising news, at the end of this week, is that it was actually a pretty good one. The bromance, the betrayal, The Social Network Although it disguises itself as a courtroom drama The Social Network is at its heart a buddy picture, a tale of a broken bromance than never resolves. Hockey has good idea, no-one takes notice In a speech earlier this week Joe Hockey identified Nine Points of discussion on Australian banking and its regulatory environment. They were entirely reasonable ideas on a complex and significant area of policy fleshed out in a public forum. Whatever was he thinking? Precious little of what has been written and said since the shadow treasurer got to his feet has had anything to do with the content and detail of his ideas. All horse race, no horse. Weekly wrap: the circle of life What a week this has been. A week in which passions ran high and anger pervaded the land, although thankfully, nobody important was hurt.
