BRTB (Baltimore Regional Transportation Board) Press Release
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

BRTB INVITES YOU TO SHARE YOUR VISION FOR THE BALTIMORE REGION THROUGH THE IMAGINE 2060 PHOTO CONTEST

August 20, 2010 (Baltimore, MD) - What do you care about in the Baltimore region? What features would you like to see introduced, preserved, or enhanced for the future?

As part of imagine 2060, the Baltimore Regional Transportation Board (BRTB) is excited to ask residents of the Baltimore region-Baltimore City and Anne Arundel, Baltimore, Carroll, Harford and Howard counties-to get out their cameras and capture images of what they value about our region.

Residents and organizations throughout the Baltimore region have shared their ideas on the future of transportation in the region at imagine 2060 public workshops over the last few months. This is an opportunity to capture images of the things that make our communities livable and sustainable.

Photo entries will be accepted during August and September in four categories:

  • Transportation (pedestrians, bikes, bus, cars, boats, trains, planes, etc.)
  • Community (walkable and vibrant places, neighborhoods, town centers, rural/small towns, people, places, art, culture, food)
  • Natural Environment (Bay, lakes, rivers, preserves, parks, sky, wildlife)
  • Prosperity (plazas, port, buildings, retail, employment centers, small businesses, neighborhoods, boulevards, agriculture)

Photographers may enter up to ten (10) images in each category. Photos must have been taken in one of the BRTB's member jurisdictions, but may have been taken at any time. Photos may be submitted by e-mail, or on CD by mail. Deadline for receipt of photos is 4:30 p.m. on Friday, September 30. No late submissions will be accepted.

A panel of judges will select one Best-of-Contest winner and one runner-up, as well as a winner and runner-up in each category. Winning photos will be showcased on the imagine 2060 web site and, with consent, in BRTB publications. There will also be an awards ceremony in 2011.

Complete contest rules are available at www.imagine2060.com or download the rules directly from the Baltimore Metropolitan Council web site (pdf).
