2011 TRB 90th Annual Meeting: Debra L. Miller, 2010 W. N. Carey, Jr. Award Recipient

In recognition of her exceptional service to TRB, the 2010 W. N. Carey, Jr., Distinguished Service Award will be presented to Debra L. (Deb) Miller, Secretary, Kansas Department of Transportation. Miller has provided outstanding leadership in policy and strategic planning for the Board, served with distinction on study committees and technical project panels, and championed research and policy analyses that address long-term challenges faced by transportation agencies at all levels of government. 2011 TRB 90th Annual Meeting: A. Keith Turner, 2010 Roy W. Crum Award Recipient

The 2010 Roy W. Crum Distinguished Service Award will be presented to A. Keith Turner, Emeritus Professor of Geological Engineering, Department of Geology and Geological Engineering, Colorado School of Mines, in recognition of his outstanding achievement in transportation research. Turner has made important, wide-ranging contributions in the application of computer and spatial information technologies to geological and environmental issues, and his research illustrates how such new applications can influence society at large. 2011 TRB 90th Annual Meeting: Now Accepting Associated Groups' Function Space Requests

TRB is taking requests for function space from non-profit organizations and government agencies that would like to hold meetings in conjunction with the TRB 90th Annual Meeting January 23-27, 2011, in Washington, DC. Qualifying organizations wishing to hold meetings, and food and beverage events at the Marriott Wardman Park, Omni Shoreham, and Hilton Washington hotels must agree to follow the  TRB Request for Function Space Guidelines and complete the online Request for Function Space Form. Only requests submitted via this form will be accepted and the priority processing deadline for forms is October 8, 2010. [More] | [Share]   ShareThis 

TRB Webinar: Institutional Architectures to Advance Systems Operations and Management

TRB will conduct a web briefing or "webinar" on Wednesday, October 13, 2010 from 2:00 p.m.-3:30 p.m. EDT that will explore a project developed by TRB's second Strategic Highway Research Program (SHRP 2). The findings of this project will enable organizations to perform self assessments to determine the maturity of business processes, in order to better streamline highway system operations.  Participants must register at least 24 hours prior to the start of the webinar, space is limited, and there is a fee for non-TRB Sponsor employees. TRB Webinar: A Simple Procedure for Selecting Mixing and Compaction Temperatures

TRB will conduct a web briefing or "webinar" on Tuesday, November 2, 2010, from 2:00 p.m.-3:30 p.m. EDT that will explore enhanced test methods for determining the laboratory mixing and compaction temperatures of unmodified and modified asphalt binders, as addressed in TRB's National Cooperative Highway Research Program (NCHRP) Report 648: Mixing and Compaction Temperatures of Asphalt Binders in Hot-Mix AsphaltParticipants must register at least 24 hours prior to the start of the webinar, space is limited, and there is a fee for non-TRB Sponsor employees. Fourth International Transportation Systems Performance Measurement Conference

TRB is sponsoring the Fourth International Transportation Systems Performance Measurement Conference on May 18-20, 2011, in Irvine, California. Featuring expert practitioners, researchers, and academicians from around the world, the program will highlight key issues, major advances, and best practices that demonstrate how transportation systems and services are benchmarked, tracked, measured, and evaluated in different countries.
