BRTB (Baltimore Regional Transportation Board) Press Release
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Open for Public Review: Right-of-Way Acquisition for Safety Improvements to MD 32 at Wellworth Way

BALTIMORE (June 8, 2011) - The Maryland State Highway Administration has asked that $886,000 be added to the 2011-14 Transportation Improvement Program (TIP) to purchase right-of-way for improvements to MD 32 in Howard County. The cost of the acquisition includes $709,000 in federal funds, with $178,000 in state matching funds.

Private driveways that now have direct access to MD 32 will be relocated to Wellworth Way, a private road. This will make it safer for residents to enter and leave their driveways, and will improve the flow of traffic on the highway.

The Wellworth Way Access Management Improvement Project has been broken out of the larger MD 32 Corridor Study. The study, which explored upgrades to MD 32 between MD 108 and I-70, began in 1996. The project planning phase, which included public workshops and hearings, is complete.

This amendment to the TIP is open for public review and comment through Friday, July 1, 2011.  Additional information about this project is available at www.baltometro.org.
