[More] | [Share]       International Transit Studies Program Call for Nominations The Transit Cooperative Research Program's International Transit Studies Program has issued a call for nominations for team members for the fall 2011 study mission on "Integrating High-Speed Rail with Existing Public Transportation Systems." The mission, whcih will be held October 21-November 5, 2011, will provide team members with an opportunity to examine how public transport services in several cities in Europe have effectively coordinated and connected their bus, metro, light rail, and commuter rail services and facilities with high-speed rail services and facilities. [More]         Innovator: May/June 2011 The U.S. Federal Highway Administration has released the latest issue of its Innovator newsletter, which is designed to help advance widespread implementation of innovations and technologies in the highway community and help chronicle a nationwide movement to improve the way highways are built. [More]         State Research News Maximizing Investments in Work Zone Safety in Oregon The Oregon Department of Transportation (ODOT) has released a report that includes guidance for maximizing ODOT's investments in work zone enforcement; examines whether additional coordination between the work zone enforcement program and the traffic control planning and work zone management efforts would enhance the programs; and examines the effectiveness of the work zone safety public education program in terms of message and media and to determine if other approaches should be considered.
