Emerging Issues in Safe and Sustainable Mobility for Older People

TRB is sponsoring a conference on Emerging Issues in Safe and Sustainable Mobility for Older People on August 30-September 1, 2011, in Washington, D.C. The conference will focus on emerging issues, research implementation, and programs related to safe and sustainable methods to enhance the mobility of older people.  Advance registration expires August 15, 2011. Webinar: Promising Practices and Solutions in Accessible Transportation: Crossing Solutions at Roundabouts and Channelized Right Turn Lanes for Pedestrians with Visual Impairments


TRB will co-sponsor a web briefing or "webinar" on August 17, 2011, from 2:00 p.m.-3:30 p.m. EDT that will present information about a National Cooperative Highway Research Program project that produced Report 674: Crossing Solutions at Roundabouts and Channelized Turn Lanes for Pedestrians with Vision Disabilities. There is no registration fee associated with this webinar; however, participants must register with Easter Seals Project ACTION in advance of the webinar and space is limited. One professional development hour (PDH) will be provided to professional engineers who attend the entire webinar session. To claim a PDH, please fill out this separate form.

Fatigue in Transit Operations: A Symposium

TRB is sponsoring the Fatigue in Transit Operations: A Symposium October 12-13, 2011, in Washington, D.C., to explore the nature of, and risks posed by, transit operator fatigue and related sleep hygiene issues. The conference will feature presentations on the status of research relating to fatigue in transit operations, explore other current research, and help identify promising directions for future research.  Advance registration expires September 9, 2011.

4th Urban Street Symposium*

TRB is cosponsoring the 4th Urban Street Symposium on June 24-27, 2012, in Chicago, Illinois. The symposium is designed to explore improvements in suburban and urban street design practices, foster discussions on alternative street design practices, examine alternative street designs, and facilitate the transfer of urban street research findings to state agencies and to local governments. Individuals or groups wishing to make presentation at the meeting must submit an abstract by October 31, 2011.

TRB's Transportation Research Record: Journal of the Transportation Research Board, No. 2203 is the first of three volumes that collectively present 90 technical papers pertinent to low-volume roads, 44 by authors from the United States and 46 by authors from 18 other countries.
