 2012 TRB 91st Annual Meeting: A Paper Submission Record-Get Ready to Register
More than 4,300 papers were submitted to TRB for acceptance as part of the TRB 91st Annual Meeting program and/or publication in the 2012 Transportation Research Record: Journal of the Transportation Research Record series. This breaks the previous record of 3,800 set last year. If the paper submission is any indication, the 2012 meeting could be one of the biggest TRB Annual Meetings ever. Registration for the Annual Meeting will open by the beginning of September.

Incorporating Truck Analysis into the Highway Capacity Manual
TRB's National Cooperative Freight Research Program (NCFRP) has issued a request for proposals to develop nationally accepted capacity and level of service techniques suitable for incorporation into the Highway Capacity Manual that improve transportation agencies' abilities to plan, design, manage, and operate streets and highways to serve trucks; and to better evaluate the effects of trucks on other modes of transportation and vice versa. Transportation Services Index: June 2011
The U.S. Bureau of Transportation Statistics' Transportation Services Index (TSI) rose 1.7 percent in June, the latest month available, to 110.3. The TSI June 2011 level of 110.3 was 3.8 percent higher than the June 2010 level. The index, which is seasonally adjusted, combines available data on freight traffic, as well as passenger travel, that have been weighted to yield a monthly measure of transportation services output.
