OPEN FOR PUBLIC REVIEW:
AMENDMENT TO HOWARD STREET REVITALIZATION PROJECT IN 2010-2013 TRANSPORTATION IMPROVEMENT PROGRAM
November 16, 2010 (Baltimore, MD) - The Maryland Department of Transportation (MDOT), on behalf of the Maryland Transit Administration (MTA), seeks to add $260,000 to the existing Howard Street Revitalization project in the 2010-2013 Transportation Improvement Program (TIP).
The Howard Street Revitalization Project currently includes plans to relocate the southbound light rail train station from Fayette to Lexington Street, remove and replace four arch structures along Howard Street, and provide a pedestrian canopy between the Lexington Market Metro station and the relocated light rail station. The additional funding would be used to replace worn out bus and light rail shelters along Howard Street.
These improvements will aid in the revitalization of the Howard Street corridor and improve pedestrian safety and access between transportation modes. The TIP Amendment is open for public review through Friday, December 17, and may be viewed at www.baltometro.org.
