2011 TRB 90th Annual Meeting: Compendium of Papers Now Available Online!

The TRB 90th Annual Meeting Compendium of Papers is now available online and can be accessed by all registered attendees. The new online Compendium of Papers replaces the CD-ROM version that has been produced in the past. The compendium is part of the "TRB Annual Meeting Online" portal that will be supplemented after the meeting with links to the slides and posters of the more than 3,000 program presenters and videos of more than 40 high-profile sessions. 2011 TRB 90th Annual Meeting: Ride Share Website

TRB, in cooperation with RideAmigos Corp, has established a ride-sharing website for attendees traveling to and from hotels within the TRB block. This pilot service is designed to help attendees be more eco-friendly and reduce congestion traveling to and from the TRB Annual Meeting.

2011 Officers and New Members of the TRB Executive Committee Announced

Neil J. Pedersen, Administrator, Maryland State Highway Administration, has been named the 2011 Chairman of the Transportation Research Board (TRB) Executive Committee. Sandra Rosenbloom, Professor of Planning, University of Arizona, is the Committee's 2011 Vice Chair. Pedersen and Rosenbloom will serve one-year terms in these offices, beginning January 27, 2011. Newly appointed members of the Executive Committee are James M. Crites, Executive Vice President, Operations Division of Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport; Lawrence A. Selzer, President and Chief Executive Officer, The Conservation Fund; Kumares C. Sinha, Edgar B. and Hedwig M. Olson Distinguished Professor of Civil Engineering, Purdue University, and Director, Joint Transportation Research Program, Purdue University and Indiana Department of Transportation; and Carolann D. Wicks, Secretary, Delaware Department of Transportation. Reappointed members of the Executive Committee are Larry L. Brown, Sr., Executive Director, Mississippi Department of Transportation; Deborah H. Butler, Executive Vice President, Planning, and Chief Information Officer, Norfolk Southern Corporation; William A.V. Clark, Professor of Geography and Adjunct Professor of Statistics, University of California at Los Angeles; and Susan Martinovich, Director of the Nevada Department of Transportation. Using Census Data for Transportation Applications Conference

The Transportation Research Board is celebrating its 90th Anniversary, and the November-December 2010 TR News inaugurates the occasion with a feature article by former Executive Director Thomas B. Deen, who reviews the organization's history and characteristics while focusing on developments and trends in the past 15 years. Supplementary features and sidebars include selected major milestones in TRB's evolution, a look forward to the next 10 years and TRB's centennial, summary comments from some of TRB's significant players, and a review of the first 5 years of the Airport Cooperative Research Program.
