TRB is sponsoring 2011 International Visualization in Transportation Symposium on August 20-23, 2011, in Chicago, Illinois. The symposium is designed to highlight improving technologies and methods, feature case studies or successful practices, and illuminate the expanding role of visualization in transportation planning, design, construction, maintenance, and data management and analysis. Traffic Volume Trends: January 2011
The U.S. Federal Highway Administration has released the latest issue of Traffic Volume Trends, which is a monthly report based on hourly traffic count data reported by the states. According to the report, travel on all roads and streets increased by 0.2 percent (0.5 billion vehicle miles) in January 2011 as compared with January 2010. Travel for the month is estimated to be 223.5 billion vehicle miles. Cumulative travel for 2011 is up by 0.2 percent (0.5 billion vehicle miles). The cumulative estimate for the year is 223.5 billion vehicle miles of travel. [More]

2010 Traffic Data for U.S Airlines and Foreign Airlines U.S. Flights The U.S. Department of Transportation's Bureau of Transportation Statistics (BTS) has released preliminary data that indicate that 786.7 million scheduled passengers traveled on U.S. airlines and on foreign airlines serving the United States in 2010. According to BTS, this is a 2.1 percent increase from 2009; however, the 2010 passenger total still remained 3.2 percent below the level of 812.3 million in 2008. [More]
